The solos I provide are both original and composed by others. The range of difficulty is from very easy to moderately difficult. The solos can be played on both a 5-hole and a 6-hole Native American flute, as can my duets and trios. The more difficult solos are of greater length than any individual song in my songbooks, and they are also of greater musical maturity. The style of the solos include children's songs, flowing ballads and swing tunes. New songs are being added periodically.
The duets are mostly original and are of rather short duration. The two duets that are not original are the well-known hymn "Amazing Grace" and the Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night." Duets not only sound good but provide a social connection with another person. Playing duets or playing in any ensemble helps to develop individual musicianship, in that one must concentrate more to hold and blend one's part with the other to prevent falling apart and to provide a musically pleasing performance. Skills in tonal balance and harmonic intonation can also be improved by playing duets, trios, quartets, etc.
So far I have only composed two trios. In addition to the benefits mentioned in playing duets, the make up of the three parts vary in difficulty so that a beginner can play with more advanced players. This enables the beginner to advance more quickly. Finding music to play with your friends is always enjoyable.
